Race Report by Soren Boy Holst
PilegaardsCup 2/5
The second round of the open regional Championships PilegaardsCup was held in Broendby, just outside Copenhagen in Denmark 16th of November. Not enough drivers attended in the 27t stock class, so the race was held with 19turn SuperStock and Touring Car Modified classes only.

In the modified class my car was really good. At Saturdays practice I broke the track record several times, and on race day the track was still good. I made a 26 lapper in the first round of qualifying, breaking the old record by 1 second.

I won the 2nd round of qualifying, making an even better 26 lapper than in first round, the record was now 3 seconds better than ever before! My apprentice Danni Eyde took 2nd spot and Christian Lehm on 3rd.

Third round of qualifying didn’t give any changes in top 3. My car was still awesome and I took the TQ spot with more than 7 seconds. Danni on 2nd spot and Christian on 3rd.

2 Danni Eyde-Nielsen XRAY T2’009

3 Christian Lehm
4 Mike Gosvig XRAY T2’008
5 Kim Lindegaard XRAY T2’007

I made an excellent start of the first finale and made a gap instantly. Danni made a big mistake and ended on the last place, but he fought his way back to second place. I had an easy win, Danni took the 2nd place and Christian third.

The 2nd final I got a good start with Danni and Christian following closely. Danni had big problems with the tires, due to missing glue on one side, so he had a really hard time with Christian. At the end Danni had to give up and Christian could take 2nd spot, with Mike on 3rd while I could cruise to the overall victory.

For third final Danni glued the tires and I tried to change my additive, just to try something and maybe get wiser. My car was not better and Danni’s car was really good now, so we had a very close and exciting fight all through the 5 minutes. I took the win with Danni very close behind me, and Christian on 3rd place.

PilegaardsCup 3/5
The third round of the open regional Championships PilegaardsCup was held 7th of December. For this race I was driving with my brand new T2’009. It was ready the day before the race, and already on my first battery, I could feel how good this car is: Super good lap times and a very stable car.

Sadly the track was a bit slow this race day, so no one could make record times at this race, but I was still close. In the first round of qualifying I took the TQ spot ahead of Martin Christensen with Tamiya and Danni Eyde Nielsen with another T2'009. My car was very easy to drive so I decided to change spoiler for the next round.

That was not a big success. I could make the same lap times, but the car was more difficult to drive this time. Martin took second place again and Danni on third.

For the third round I changed the spoiler back, and the car was pretty stable again, so this time I could drive even faster, securing the TQ spot with a 6 second lead. Danni was very close to Martins best time, I think it was only 0,02 second, but not enough.

First final I made a very good and fast start, but on second lap I gently hit a curb, so the car decided to stay with the wheels in the air. This was a big chance for my two closest competitors Martin and Danni, as I had to wait for a marshal. Martin took the lead with Danni right in his tail. I pushed like a crazy and moved up through the field, getting ready for the big battle in front, but after some laps I could hear a crash, and I managed to get the car back in front, while Danni and Martin waited to be marshaled at the end of the main straight.

Unfortunately Martin had a tweaked car, so he had to retire. Christian took advantage of the crash as well, driving on second place, while Danni was trying to catch up with him. I took the win, Christian stayed on second place and Danni took third.

For the second final my start was not that good, so Martin was very close to me for the first couple of laps. Then I got some breathing and Martin could start to fight with Danni again for second. This time the two guys didn’t crash, so it ended like we started. This time I had changed the way I added additive to the tires, so the car was really easy to drive with.

3rd final I didn’t have to worry since I already won the race. Danni and Martin had something to fight for this time. Again I got a good start and since the two guys behind me where fighting, I could just go. Martin made a mistake after two minutes so Danni made the pass and took the 2nd place that would also secure him the overall 2nd place.

After 4.30 Danni made a to big turn at the end of the main straight, so Martin could dive inside him, but at the next turn he was on the outside of Danni, Danni’s car touched Martin’s and Danni felt he had to wait, due to the crash in first final, so Martin could retain second place, and thereby securing the 2nd place overall. This was a very exciting final between these two guys and an excellent show of sportsmanship.
